Mysteries at Silver Moon; Curse of Silver Moon

Mysteries at Silver Moon Book 1: Curse of Silver Moon.

Hey everyone, Nop62 here! Welcome to my first ever Animal Jam mystery novel! One of the reasons I joined Animal Jam Archives was so I could write Animal Jam stories and share them with people that played the game. My first Animal Jam novel was not a mystery story, but was the first book I ever published. I will probably do an article in the future about this book, so you can see if the story I wrote interests you, as I will be including the prologue. J Now back to Silver Moon Academy! This new story is called Mysteries at Silver Moon, and takes place in the new school Silver Moon Academy. Since this is my first mystery, and since I have had trouble writing mystery stories in the past, please be patient with me and feel free to write your mystery ideas and story suggestions in the comments below! Okay, I’ll stop talking. And with no further ado, I present to you Mysteries at Silver Moon Book One: The Curse of Silver Moon.

Chapter 1

The air was fresh and crisp, a soft and chilly wind wove itself through the streets of Jamaa, reminding everyone that it was autumn. The trees were painted with deep crimson and amber leaves. The ground was already covered with splashes of auburn and buttery yellow.

It was almost September. To be precise, there were only four days until it was September first. Because of this, students from all over Jamaa were preparing for school by reviewing some of last year’s work, picking their courses, and by gathering new school supplies.

Jamaa’s Mall was especially busy. Students were shopping for their stationary items, new clothes, backpacks and lunch kits… everything that was needed for a new school year.

I was shopping with two of my three best friends, Amy and Denaé. My other best friend was in another country helping his family out. Amy, Denaé and I were shopping in our favorite journalist store called The Writer’s Nook.

All four of us were almost complete opposites, but we were still besties for life and always stuck together like two peas in a pod. Err… four peas in a pod.

Amy, the short lilac fox, was the fashionista. She loved checking out the fashion magazines every week when they first came out. She also thoroughly enjoyed designing her own dresses at home and making my other friend Denaé and I try them on.

Denaé was the calm and quiet one. She was a gold and white cougar, who preferred botany and baking over glitter and fame. Everything she made was absolutely delicious. Denaé is an amazing cook.

My other friend, Astron, loved science and math and is super smart. He was an all white arctic wolf with a black pattern dyed in his fur. We shared the same taste in clothing and dressed alike, except I wore all pink and he wore black. (Of course, he doesn’t wear a flower crown like I do though.)

I was looking intently at a shelf of notebooks, trying to decide between a sparkly, pink book, and a shiny metallic purple one.

“Mmmkay. Isis?” I heard Amy say from behind me. She walked up beside me, looking down at her shopping list which was written in flawless cursive.

“We only need a few more items here before we can go to Kazu and get some new clothes.” She informed me. I nodded looking back at the books. “Sounds good!” Amy turned around as Denaé came over to join us.

“Hey… do you say I get the pink journal or the purple?” I asked my friends. Amy sat down and tucked her tail around her paws.

“Mmmm.” She tisked, tapping her lip with the end of her pen. “I say go with purple.” She decided. Denaé smiled. “Honestly, I say go with the pink one. I mean, it matches the pens you picked out, your backpack, your fur…” I shifted the flowercrown that was on my head. “I suppose, Denaé.” I began. “The thing is though, everything I own is pink. Maybe it is time to change it up a bit.” Both my friends nodded so I gently pulled the shiny purple book from the display.

We spent a few more minutes in Writer’s Nook before we quickly stopped by a geeky science shop where we each got a calculator that was required for math class. (Some crazy one called Jamaa Prime Scientific Calculator, whatever that means.)

Finally we were free to go to Kazu and shop for our new school outfits!

We walked down the halls of the shopping centre, gushing at the magnificent displays until we finally reached the chic and superlative Kazu. The three of us looked through the racks and racks of shimmering fabric, glimmering cloth, silk, satin, and cotton before each picking out a couple of skirts, shirts and gowns.

I found a glittery pink and pearl white gown that had lace around the neck and crisscross sparkle patterns all across the skirt part. It was absolutely stunning. I also found a stylish faux fur cloak in a crisp white that hung down to the ground. It matched perfectly with my simple satin, snow coloured dress that had a silver belt of fabric around the waist and arms.

After about an hour and a half of browsing, selecting, and trying our clothes on, we made our decisions and bought our outfits.

Amy, Denaé and I started to walk back through the mall and out into the fresh air. We walked down the cool, sunny street to the little apartment where we were staying. The three of us were sharing one of the little living spaces, and it was so much fun. We had sleepovers every day!

In our little room, we gathered all our school stuff and organized it, packing it into our bags and setting them in the front closet.

Denaé cooked up some dinner while Amy tried on her dresses, taking photos and posting them on Instajam. I hung around in the living room looking at the school information and class descriptions on my laptop.

“Huh.” I mused. “This is the school’s first year!” Amy twirled in front of the giant mirror, holding one of my dresses up to her chest. “Oh really?” She replied absent-mindedly. “Darling, this dress is truly elegant. I should have bought the same one in lavender!”

I turned back to the computer screen and scrolled through Silver Moon Academy’s homepage. I found the names of a bunch of the teachers, all the classes, their descriptions, school layout, and the schedules.

“Wow.” I breathed, looking at the picture of the castle-sized academy. “It looks amazing!” Denaé looked up from her scrambled eggs. “What do the dorms look like?” She asked, bending over and pulling the hash browns out of the oven.

I quickly checked and gasped at what I found. “Oh, they are so big! Look at them!” Denaé and Amy padded quickly over and leaned in. The dorms were large and roomy. They had big windows and silk translucent curtains. The walls were pure white and each room had a large crystal chandelier.

“It is like living in a palace!” Amy sighed melodramatically. I smiled. I had to admit, even though I wasn’t into the fancy stuff as much as Amy was, our new school did look quite something.

“Only a few more days until our first class” I said closing my laptop with a wide grin. I couldn’t wait.

Hey everyone! How do you like the first chapter of my new Mysteries at Silver Moon series? Join Isis, Amy, and Denaé again as they start the school year in the new school Silver Moon! Come back to the Archives soon for the next chapter of Book 1, and find out what mysteries await them… What do you think is going to happen? Hope to hear from you in a little while!

(Also if you were wondering how you pronounce the name Isis, it is “Ice-is” so not “is” as in “iz” but “iss” sort of like a snake or the soft “C” sound, like they say in elementary. Or of course you could ask your parents if I just totally confused you. )
