Ready or Not; Chapter 7

Hey Jammers!! It’s been quite some time since a chapter of this series has come out. The sole purpose of this is a combination of mental health, pure laziness, and a screen recorder refusing to do its’ job XD.

But I decided I would rather have chapters out with no AJMVs rather than huge gaps like this to get AJMVs in them. So if I can get them out, awesome. If not and I need to put them aside for now, I’ll do that. I just want to get weekly uploads out for you guys. This is the BIG CHAPTER, which has a major plot twist at the end. Enjoy!

Chapter Seven; Ready as I’ll Ever Be

I had set up Liza’s cage in a darker corner of the shack. I had no clue what my plan was after this- I mean- I didn’t actually think I’d succeed.

“Child, what are you doing?” Liza asked calmly. “Don’t you see?” I yelled, causing the defenseless alpha to wince.

“I’m taking the land that is rightfully mine. I will soon be the ruler of your pathetic world.”  I cackled, glancing at my disguise in the dirty, cracked mirror. Standing before me wasn’t Mariah. This girl was strong, brave, confident, and-if I may say- stunning. I never knew how beautiful I could look with my hair out of a hat for once. I snapped out of my thoughts when the panda alpha decided to speak again.

“Who-what are you?” She asked, her voice shaky. Was I intimidating this alpha?

“Oh, you know. Just your average phantom princess. Gotta love it.” I smirked, scanning over my maps of Jamaa to plot out my next move.

“Princess? Like you’re related to the Phantom King?” Liza asked.

“No. I’m related to the King of Jamaa.” I sarcastically snickered.

“Why are you doing this?” Liza called out. I rolled my eyes.

“Why are you so annoying?” I snapped, crumpling up the flyer of the Night of the Phantom Gala.

“If you must know,” I started, turning to Liza, “I’m proving myself.”

“Proving? Why?”

“Is this twenty questions?” Suddenly, I felt myself get weak, and I fell to the floor. My bracelet beeped, letting my transformation wear off.

“Are you serious?” I growled, kicking some dust off the floor.

“Y-you look oddly familiar.” Liza muttered. I shrugged her comment off. I guess locking up someone for a few hours could turn them crazy.

“My mother once told me when I was a young child that her father- the Phantom King- gave her task. I’m not sure what the task was before you go running your mouth. She was sent here-to Jamaa- to probably do this same thing I am: Proving my worth. She failed, but I won’t! I will succeed at all costs. I refuse to lose.” I snapped.

“Who’s your father?” Liza asked. I froze.

“A horrible man who tried to kill me at birth. I don’t know who that man is, and I don’t want to know.” I replied coldly, wiping the stray tear from my cheek.

“Have you ever thought that maybe your mother is lying?” Liza yelled. I whipped around to her and formed a dark energy ball.

“She would never lie to me! I-I don’t want to listen to your annoying voice any longer.” I snapped.

“You look so familiar. Your eyes-they look like-” The alpha paused, her eyes widening in horror. She immediately shut up and sunk into the wall. I laughed. Crazy.

“Look, panda girl. Your little alpha friends can try to save you, but they won’t win. Because I’m ready as I’ll ever be, Liza.” I cackled.

I watched in awe as the black phantoms I had ingeniously created swarmed around the room. If you had told me a few months ago I’d be here-claiming this filthy land for the phantoms, I wouldn’t have believed you. But here I am-ready for any sort of attack I may face. I heard small footsteps coming from the outside door, and I immediately transformed into the Destroyer suit-thing. I’m still trying to figure out a cool name for it. It’s showtime.

The doors burst open, revealing a large army of different animals with swords. The leader was a younger tiger-probably close to sixteen years old. Beside her was an emo-looking boy with his bow ready to fire. The other Alphas weren’t far behind, with a small lynx making her way to the front of the army.

You!” The little lynx shouted, starting to run towards me. I flicked my wrist, and she flew backwards. I cackled at her failed attempt.

“Give us Liza and no harm shall come to you.” The tiger demanded, holding her sword towards me.

“Look, little tiger. If you think that barging into my base to steal your precious little alpha back is actually going to work, you’re a terrible leader. You must not know who I am. I am the phantom princess that will succeed where others before me have failed. I am the one who will seize your land once and for all!” I exclaimed, my cape flowing into the draft from the opened doors.

“No, sweetie. I will be the one that rules Jamaa.” A familiar voice snapped. Before anyone could move, a bright, powerful blast sent us all flying backwards. When I looked up, my mother herself was standing before me.

“What are you even talking about, mother?” I groaned, standing up. I watched as the Jamaa Army did the same.

“Oh, you clueless, little fox. This was all merely a part of my ultimate plan.”

“What plan?”

“The plan for me to finally claim Jamaa!”

“What! But that’s why I did this! I was proving myself worthy!”

“No, honey. You were merely doing the dirty work for me.”

“Why are you doing this?”

“Because Jamaa is MINE!” And with that last jab to my heart, she blasted me right in the stomach, sending me flying. When I looked up to retaliate, she was gone. I slammed my fist down. How could she? My mind went back to what Liza had told me previously.

“Have you ever thought that maybe your mother is lying?” Liza yelled. I whipped around to her and formed a dark energy ball.

“She would never lie to me! I-I don’t want to listen to your annoying voice any longer.” I snapped.

She was right. All this time, my mother raised me to do what she never could; conquer. She used me. All this time-my entire life-wasted. Was this truly my path? Or was this the path that my mother set down for me? My mind was spinning so fast, I couldn’t keep up with it. I did the only thing my heart could do; I cried.
