SILVER MOON BOOK 2: SKATING ON THIN ICE CHAPTER 7
Chapter 7
The three of us sat together in the office, accompanied by Marie who was sitting by Amy with a box of tissues.
I was holding an ice pack to Amy’s head, Denaé was holding an ice pack to Amy’s ankle, Marie with the tissue box and Amy with the tissues at her nose.
She pulled the tissue away and looked at it. “I thng my noz id dun bleedn.” She informed us. I took her bloody wad by the corner and ran over to the garbage
“Thangs.” She said, smiling. I smiled back. “You’re welcome.” Marie left to get a wrap for her ankle, and the three of us were left alone. Amy sighed, looking down. “I relly blew it dis time.” She said. I shook my head. “Again, it was not your fault. Casella is a stuck up jerk, maybe even worse than Evica. No idea what happened to her. You don’t need to feel bad. I promise I will get to the bottom of this.” My enthusiasm didn’t have the affect I hoped it would. Amy sighed. “Okay.”
“Raven was early, and we left to get our mittens. Your skates were by the fire so she could have done it while we were gone.” Denaé pointed out. I pursed my lips. Looked pretty obvious now... but looks can be deceiving.
“But then when we came back, everyone was there, so someone could have done it while everyone was distracted.” She pointed out again. This was also true. Amy chimed in. “Casella and Evica are always together lately, so one can't do something without the other knowing. Does that narrow it down to just Raven?” I shook my head. “It is possible that they are in this together, or Casella is just really sneaky or possibly distracted Evica.” This time Denaé commented.
“This sort of stuff doesn’t totally seem Evica and Casella style. Plus they wouldn’t be able to hide their pleasure, especially if they were working together.” Now we were really stumped. Was the criminal obvious or were we missing some key evidence.
“I found some!” Headmistress Marie suddenly called, jumping unexpectedly into the room. She stooped down before Amy and began wrapping the gauze around her ankle. “Poor thing. Does it hurt?” She asked. The fox shrugged. “A little, but the icepack made it pretty numb.” Marie nodded. “Well, your sweet friends fixed you up well! I advise you go to your room and take a rest. No more skating until you feel better. Your ankle is not too bad, so if you don’t do anything crazy before tomorrow night, you should be able to skate again.” Marie smiled, patting each of us. “Lovely girls.” She said, walking back around her desk. “Oh! And I will bring Amy her dinner in bed as a little treat.” She grinned before going into the back room.
Denaé helped Amy up and I gathered the icepacks. We walked slowly back to the dorms where we decided to relax and watch a Jamaaliday movie.
As the film was playing, I glanced at Amy. I felt bad for her. She keeps getting hurt, be it emotionally or physically, then feels bad for being picked on. She was so sweet.
I slid onto her bed and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. Denaé joined the hug and we sat there together, comforted by the warmth of each other as we watched the movie quietly together in the dark.
