Have you ever seen someone with a pet that has an eye-catching colour trail behind it? If you have, then you’ve seen someone with a jewel tiered pet! These pets are extra special because they’re not like ordinary pets! You have to combine 5 pets of the same species together in order to receive your first jewel tiered pet. This pet will be ruby tiered. You even get a free pet display when you create your first one!
What is a Jewel Tiered pet?
A jewel tiered pet is a combination of five different pets of the same species. Contrary to popular belief, these pets do not need to be the same level, however, they do need to be the same species to be able to combine. For example, you can not combine a pet cattle puppy with a pet highland cow.
How Many Tiers Are There?

Jewel pets can come in FOUR different tiers! One being ruby tier at pet level 5, two being emerald tier at pet level 10, three being diamond tier at pet level 15 and rainbow, the highest tier, being at pet level 20.
How do I obtain one?
You can get a jewel tiered pet by nurturing five different pets of the same species using a Pet Station OR a PetSitter Pro until the pet that you want to tier up is level 5. You can choose to spend sapphires to level up your pets faster, instead, but after they are level 5, you can no longer pay to level. Once your companion is level 5, head over to the Chamber of Knowledge in The Lost Temple of Zios.
Once you get inside, go all of the way to the right until you see the door to the next room. Once you’re inside The Hall of Icons, you will see the pedestal to combine your pets. When you combine your pets, there are 4 you won’t get back, so do not choose pets that you’re not okay with losing! They will be gone forever. Your pets do not need to be leveled, but the more levels that they have, the closer your pet will be to be able to tier up again after you merge!
So, What Makes a Jewel Tier Pet So Special, Anyway?
Jewel tier pets are allowed to access the highest difficulty pet expeditions. These expeditions have a chance to bring you different types of Exotic Pet DNA vials, or even an Alpha item! Jewel tier pets can also gain more energy than regular pets, so you can send them on a lot more expeditions before they tire out. They also look awesome with the jewel tier colour trail behind them!
Is it worth it?
All in all, everyone has something different to say about jewel tiered pets. You can decide if it’s worth it by factoring in your own opinion. Ask yourself questions like “Do I have enough sapphires to buy the pets I need?”, or “Do I have the time and energy to devote to nurturing all of my pets?”
If the answer is yes, then consider starting your journey to rainbow tier! If the answer is no, don’t fret. Work to gain more sapphires and take the time to start nurturing your pets. You’ll be at rainbow tier in no time!
