Today in Jamaa History: Bunnies Find a Home

Hey Jammers! Yellow here, it's time for another edition of Today in Jamaa History! Today, I have something a bit different for you.

It's the release of Animal Jam's first app! This happened wayyy before Play Wild, a whole five years ago (as of today)! Some of you may not even be familiar with this game, because AJHQ doesn't promote it these days. In it's time however, it was pushed a ton!

The AJHQ animators did a wonderful job on this trailer! The Jamaa Journal also talked about a special event happening in that weekend only in-game:

I actually had this bunny on my long gone ipod touch... Oh well... On a more interesting note, you might notice the July 18th date there. Tunnel Town did not do a quiet launch. July 18th was the big day and AJHQ made sure everyone knew by sending out Jam-a-Grams.

Masterpiece Monday #6

​Hello jammers! My name is KingJamaa, and I’m pleased to be your host this fine day. Today, we have four amazing masterpieces by talented individuals to share, so let’s get started!

Fruitsbasket11223 has made a brilliant piece! The clouds look as fluffy as they would in reality, and the blending of the colors is phenomenal! In addition, I love the person with the violin in the foreground, it really makes the piece original in my opinion.

Secondly, Blackwolf507’s black cat masterpiece is absolutely adorable! I adore the kitty’s shining blue eyes, and the background of greens and dark blues really make the creature pop.

Next up is Kittycorgi’s bright fantasy scene. Use of bright colors was definitely a good decision, and the lighting is spot-on. To add on, the detail is amazing!

Last but not least calls for Sorasai’s puppy artwork. I love all the small details, and the colors are spontaneous!

Good Monday morning, Jammers! As you know, every Monday AJHQ releases a new rare into stores. This week, the underwater Lionfish Helmet has made its way to Bahari Bargains! You can get this item on the 2nd page of the shop for 800 gems. It appears to compliment last week's Rare Lionfish Armor!

And of course, Play WIld has its Monday Rares too! This week, the item is Baseball cleats.

Wild Weekend: Jelly Café

Hey Jammers! As you may have heard, AJHQ has been releasing exclusive items every weekend as part of a Wild Weekend special sales event. This week, it's the Jelly Café! Masterpiece Monday #5

​Hey there! My name’s KingJamaa, and I care if you’re ready for this week’s edition of Masterpiece Monday. (I apologize for the cringey band pun.) Anyways, with that aside, today I have four fantastic art pieces to show you all. How about we get started, hm?

Artymis’ portrait of Merida from the movie Brave is our first masterpiece this time around. The lighting is amazing, as well as the anatomy and the replication of the style within the film. The background makes this princess’s hair really pop, and I love how it’s blended.

Next up, we have a gorgeous illustration by none other than Windycityblues. The pointillism effect is a great touch to the piece, and the artist’s thinking redesign of this famous artwork is phenomenal.

Buzz, buzz! Do you hear that sound? It seems like Jammer13wqz’s bee masterpiece is flying right around the corner! Don’t worry, we don’t have a piece of Barry Bee Benson, as the brushstrokes and realism really take the cake here. Pardon my puns, but I just love how bee-utiful the color scheme is. Anyways, in all seriousness, I adore this piece.

Last but not least, Felispirit’s halfbody shot of Aparri is beyond gorgeous. The artist’s style is stunning, and the amount of detail seems to be limitless. I love how the colors go so well together, and the anatomy is just spot-on.

Today in Jamaa History: Seaside Urbanization

Hey Jammers! It's Yellow here again. Today I've got a very exciting update to take a look at. It's very hot outside, and I'd like to go to the beach. Luckily, if you were around in 2011 the beach had just been remodeled!

That's right! Today we're looking at the update of Crystal Sands. Before I even talk about the update, we need to go back one day further to July 6th. What did Crystal Sands look like then?

Now that's very different, and a sudden transition as well! The land lost a lot of it's plant life and those handsome tiki heads...  Now, what did AJHQ think they needed to highlight about this change?

The water slides of course! And with waterslides, came a new water park den! I quite like this den, although I wish it was bigger. (AJHQ, expanded water park for diamonds please. Make it happen!) Of course, to get the new den you were going to need alot of gems, and AJHQ had just the solution for you.

The daily spin was first spun on this day seven years ago! The Jamaa Journal brags that you can earn 1500 gems in one day, but these days, that doesn't mean all that much. Inflation is fun, isn't it?

Majorclaw must have been pretty happy with this update, they finally got an astronaut helmet! But most jammers were very disappointed to hear about the closure of coral corner. I wish that shop was still here. So many nice items... At least they had a sale! They had better clearance prices than Toys R Us I bet.

Thursday Updates: Wild weekend & Enchanted Eagles

Good morning, Jammers! Elvis here to report this week's Thursday Updates. Every other Thursday, AJHQ releases new features, items, adventures, or animals to play as!

On the first page of the Jamaa Journal, a new Wild Weekend is announced! For the next 4 days, until Sunday, Popsicle-themed items will be available in the Diamond Shop! There are six den items for 1 diamond each, plus a full clothing set for 9 diamonds.

The second page of the Journal announces the arrival of Enchanted Eagles in Jamaa. These are similar to Polar Arctic Foxes and Spring Bunnies, but instead of snowflakes or daises, these eagles have roses printed on their feathers and swirling around wherever they go! Want assets? In addition to this new flying animal, a rather flight-less pet counterpart has come to Jamaa! Pet Dodo birds are now available in the Diamond shop for 3 diamonds. These little prehistoric pals are quite adorable!

With all this talk of birds, the Conservation Museum has opened their new exhibit: Taking Flight! Head over to Appondale to learn more about the great species of the sky.

And last but not least, in the back of the Jamaa Journal you'll find info on the new Artist's Dream Bundle! This package contains art-themed clothing and den items when a 3 month membership is purchased. From what we've heard on the Archives, this may be AJHQ's best release yet!

Masterpiece Monday #4

Salutations, jammers! My name is KingJamaa, and I welcome you to a very special and patriotic edition of Masterpiece Monday! Today, we’ll be showcasing two freedom day themed masterpieces found under the #AJfreedom tag on Instagram. Let’s get started with the art, shall we?

Our first masterpiece is drawn by @starry.silhouette.aj and depicts a wolf staring at some colorful fireworks. I love the colors on the piece, and the pose is very well done. In addition, the shading is phenomenal, as well as the small details.

Finally, @cupcakecelineaj’s freedom theme park piece is phenomenal! I adore the reflections in the water, as well as the rabbit! The lighting and blending are additionally excellent, what an excellent job.

Rare Item Monday: Lionfish Armor

Good Monday morning, Jammers! As you know, every Monday AJHQ releases a new rare item into stores. This week, the Rare Lionfish Armor has made its way to to ocean stores. You can pick up this underwater back item in Bahari Bargains on the third page for 825 gems.

In addition to the AJPC Rare Item Monday, a Rare Fez is now in stores in Animal Jam Play Wild!

Today in Jamaa History: A Spikey History

Hey Jammers! Yellow here. While going through some more newspapers, I found an interesting event! One that would shape the Animal Jam trading scene forever...

As usual, Jamaa Journals come from here.

That's right, today in Jamaa history, spikes were released! These items, as you probably know, are a core part Animal Jam's trading economy, and a highly desired item by many Jammers! However, spikes weren't always the collars and wristbands you know today. They went by very different names a while back...

That's right! Spikes used to have different names depending on if they were long or short. Long spikes were called Spikey, and shorts were called

Spiked... necklaces? Collar weren't always called collars, but I think the new name fits them better. All of these spiked/y items came on a jam-a-gram that looked like this:

Wild Weekend: Meteor Showers

Hey Jammers! As you may have heard, AJHQ has been releasing exclusive items every weekend as part of a Wild Weekend special sales event. This week, the theme is meteor showers to celebrate National Asteroid Day on June 30th! In the Diamond Shop, there are plenty of alien-themed items for your den as well as an Alien Space Helmet. This head item is only available today, so make sure to pick yours up before they leave stores!

According to this post in the Jamaa Journal, it looks like more clothing items are on their way! Be sure to check in daily with the Archives and the Diamond Shop for more updates.

Masterpiece Monday #3

Greetings, Jammers! My name is KingJamaa, and I welcome you to another edition of Masterpiece Monday! Don’t know what that is? Masterpiece Monday is where I compile a few masterpieces I find to be amazing and compliment them. Let’s get started with the first of our four art pieces, shall we?

Here, we have Phabphoeblie’s tiger masterpiece! I love the scenery, and the blending is phenomenal. I adore the shading, as well as the leaves. Amazing job!

Next up is a piece of a wolf drawn by Kittycorgi. I enjoy the style, it’s very soft and pleasing to the eye. The colors and anatomy are additionally exceptional, and the background makes the subject pop.

Redwing’s phoenix art takes the cake for our third masterpiece this week. The colors blend together well, and the cool-colored background stands out and adds to the beauty of the piece. The fire of the bird is stunning, and I love that it was added.

Last but not least, we have Chocolate4froggy’s representation of a pirate ship. The way the dark colors come together with the light colors of the lighting is exceptional, and the subject is amazing! In addition, the flow of the darker sky to a brighter one is stunning.

Rare Item Monday: Safari Hat

VidCon Results Day 3

Yesterday, the last day of #AJVidCon, Wisteriamoon defeated Aparri in the final trading challenge and Team Direwolf won! Congratulations to the whole team: Snowyclaw, Sethyy, Wisteriamoon, and Bepper! The in-game items for the team will be turned rare in the next Thursday update, so don't forget to pick up some dire wolf den items!

Today in Jamaa History: Cuddly and Randomized

Hey Jammers! Yellow here, and today I've got another history lesson for you all. While I was searching through newspapers from June, I found this!

That's right! Pets were released in Jamaa seven years ago today! I'm also glad to see that Magical Prettymoon didn't have to worry about a lack of new stuff. The next few pages takes a deep dive into pets, which will be very useful for you and I!

The next page has a large chunk of text that's really too long for what it is, so I'll summarize it. The first four pets to be released were dogs, cats, frogs, and ducks. (That's more than Play Wild!). What's REALLY interesting is the other half of the page:

It was hard to get a pet that looked exactly how you wanted it! As far as I can tell, the shape, colors, and accessories were determined by these symbols. Fun fact: These accessories include the head items found at the Play As Your Pet Party. (Source)

AJHQ also gave us this image to show jammers all the diversity in pets. Pirate hats must have been really fashionable back then. One issue that would come up with this update was that EVERYONE was trying to get to Claws n' Paws. The next day, AJHQ would add pet finders around Jamaa.

VidCon Schedule Day 1

The wait is over, VidCon is finally here, and we have the schedule covered! Today at 9am Pacific Time (10am MT / 11am CT / 12pm ET) Snowyclaw will take on Twinkle0122 in a round of, Fall Phantoms, then at 11am Pacific time (10am MT / 12pm CT / 1pm ET) Sethyy and Aparri will go off in a round of Fast Foodies. 1pm (2pm MT / 3 pm CT / 4pm ET) Pacific time  Bepper and Typicallrocky will take on each other with the beachside blitz challenge, and last, but certainly not least, they masterpiece challenge! Starting at 3pm (4pm MT / 5 pm CT / 6pm ET)  this challenge will involve WisteriaMOON and Gellyjones.
