10 Things to do in Animal Jam When You're Bored

With Animal Jam Classic getting few updates since the shutdown of flash, things can get pretty boring from time to time. It can get easy to be bored in the game, but hopefully one of these ideas below can cure your boredom!

Idea 1 - Create a new look for your animal using a certain theme!

These days, creating a new look for your animal can be difficult, especially if your brain is run dry. But a fun one to challenge yourself is creating a look using a set theme! This theme can range from pink items only, to a cute forest look! Here are some fun ideas to try out, and hey, maybe you will create a main look out of these.

-Forest theme

-Look that costs under 3,000 gems

-One color only theme (red, yellow, pink, etc)

-Candy theme

-Phantom theme

-Monster theme

-Fancy theme

Let us know if you try any of these yourself!

Idea 2- Play the forgotten desert or any adventure, to get rare items, or just for nostalgia’s sake.

The forgotten desert is a classic animal jam adventure. You collect gems around a desert map and have a chance of getting rare items like spiked collars and wristbands. It can be fun to play with friends too, as it makes the adventure go by faster. Just put on some music, have your friends join you, and you're set to go! If you’re  a non-member and can’t play the forgotten desert, you can instead play your favorite adventures. For me personally, going back to old adventures is very nostalgic and enjoyable with my friends. Overall playing the forgotten desert or any adventure in general is a good way to cure boredom in Aj Classic!

My favorite adventures are:

-The Forgotten Desert

-Return of the Phantoms

-The Search for Greely

-The River’s Heart

-The Great Escape

-Bubble Trouble

Idea 3- Decorate a den according to a theme.

This idea is basically the same as #1, but with dens instead! You could pick a certain theme to stick to, and decorate your den according to it. Or maybe you could pick a random den and then decorate it. If that doesn’t satisfy you, then you could try decorating a den with a certain time limit. Maybe even challenge your friends to do this as well. You could do a fun game where whoever decorates the best den wins a prize! Some den theme ideas you could do are:

-Paint theme

-Ice cream shop theme

-Forest theme

-Fruit theme

-Den beta only theme

-Bug theme

-Beach theme

-Animal print theme

Idea 4- Host a fashion show in your den.

I remember I used to love holding fashion shows. I loved creating my own fashion themes, and seeing what Jammers created. To host a fashion show, all you have to do is advertise in your den and pick out a random prize. This doesn’t have to be a rare item, you just need something cool to give the winner. Each round comes up with a theme and then eliminates a player as well. Hosting your own fashion show can take a while so this idea will take up a good chunk of your time.

Idea 5- Create a masterpiece

When masterpieces came out in Animal Jam in 2016, they were a big hit. Today, making masterpieces is still very popular, as jammers use them for galleries, commissions, or just for plain fun. A fun idea would be to recreate your main look in the AJ art studio, because we all know it could be challenging! You could also test your art skills and make masterpieces to sell in a shop. Maybe even try a masterpiece challenge, like using only one color or not lifting your pen up when you draw. It’s definitely worth a shot to try out one of these ideas!

Idea 6- Try the necklace to spike challenge

I first saw this challenge from Aparri in 2018. He would start off with a 45 gem necklace and try to trade up to any spike. It is mainly inspired by the paperclip to house challenge, which is still done on Youtube today. Trading a necklace for anything can be time consuming, since they’re basically worthless. But hey, who knows, maybe you can get a spike in the end! All you have to do is go to Jamaa, and try to trade your necklace for anything more valuable than it. Once you get a trade accepted, keep trading up until you get any spike. I hope if you try out this challenge you reach success!

Idea 7- Host a giveaway

Sometimes, I just feel like being kind to other people, and a perfect way to do this is to host a giveaway. This can be simple, all you have to do is advertise “Giveaway my den!” in a populated area. Then once you are happy with the amount of people, you can stop advertising and head to your den. Usually people just pick a random jammer, but a fun twist you could do is trivia. Maybe ask them questions about the game. For instance you could ask: What year was Animal Jam created? Or you could ask: What year was the diamond shop added in the game? Both of these ways are great ways to give away an item and make someone's day!

Idea 8- Play your favorite classic minigames

Minigames are a fun way to pass the time in Animal Jam, and they are even more enjoyable when you play your favorite ones! I would recommend making a top five list of your most-liked minigames and playing them one by one. You could try to beat your previous high score, or see how long you can play the minigame for before getting too bored. My favorite AJC minigames are eat em up, jamaa derby, wind rider, falling phantoms and best dressed.

Idea 9- Revisit your favorite parties, including the Summer Carnival.

It’s summer currently in the northern hemisphere, which is a perfect time to visit the Summer Carnival. It would also be fun to revisit your favorite parties, or ones that you have not been to in a long time. At the Summer Carnival you could save your tickets for your favorite items (No cheating by buying tickets ;)!) or beat your highscore in one of the games. You could even challenge your friends, and see who can get the highest score in all of the games. You could also make some cool cotton candy combos, like the classic phantom or the pink heart one! At parties you could purchase some of the cool items they sell there, or just have a fun hangout.

Idea 10 - Take a photoshoot in Animal Jam

For the last idea, you could take a photoshoot in Animal Jam. Take a group of friends, or go solo, it doesn’t matter. Get your animal dressed up in a certain theme and take pictures around dens, lands, parties, in shops, etc. You could even post the pictures on your Instagram (if you have one) or another social media app you use. Photoshoots tend to do well on Instagram, especially if they look aesthetically pleasing. Some photoshoots ideas are:

-Rainbow photoshoot (have each person be a different color of the rainbow

-Match one item (each person wears the same one item, but the rest of the outfit can be different!)

-Pastel theme (Everyone dresses in pastel theme)

-Rares theme (Everyone dresses in rare items B) )

-Fancy theme (Everyone dresses in fancy items!)

-Food theme  (Everyone dresses as a food)

And that’s it, Jammers! It can be easy to get bored in Animal Jam, but after reading this list I hope you can gain one thing to keep you occupied. I hope you enjoyed reading this article, since some of these tips can be quite useful! Let us know if you tried any of these ideas, and if you like them! ~Candybats
